LifeLock Identity TheftWe recently posted an identity theft alert about an ongoing identity theft scam. You can read the older post here:

SCAM ALERT: Fake IRS Agents are on the Prowl

IMPORTANT UPDATE*

The identity theft scammers won’t stop.  In response to our latest IRS Scammer Blog Post, we were told that the same identity thieves are also using this phone number: 202-754-8843.  We confirmed with callercomplaints.com  that indeed this is another fraudulent IRS scam.  The website also noted: “Caution, 202-754-8443 is a “spoofed” number, which means that whoever called you “tricked” your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number.”  Seems the identity thieves are trying to gain some legitimacy by pretending to have a Washington DC phone number.
These calls are a reminder that IRS fraud is common this time of year, so be on the lookout and always be cautious before providing anyone with your personal information.  As always, we advise our customers to sign up for a quality identity theft protection service – two of our favorites are LifeLock and Identity Guard.
