April 15, 2014The deadline for individuals to file their tax return is April 15.  Depending on the type of legal entity, the business tax deadline may vary.

If it looks like you won’t be able to get your tax return filed on time, the good news is that you can request an extension. Individuals can request a six-month extension on the tax return deadline by filing Form 4868.  A corporation can obtain an extension by filing Form 7004 with the IRS, whereas a partnership receives an automatic 5-month extension by filing Form 7004.

Individuals requesting a tax extension will have a new tax return filing deadline of October 15, 2015.
